Cross country team wins at Crofton

The Wayne High girls placed three runners in the top 10 and edged Norfolk Catholic to take top honors in the Crofton Invitational on Friday.
Hannah Leonard led the Blue Devils with a third-place finish of 22:18.56, while Andrea Torres finished sixth (23:10.50) and Gabi Meyer placed 10th (23:53.45). Marcella Jurotich rounded out the Wayne scoring with a 15th place effort of 24:21.49, with Molly Hoskins finishing 19th and Maddie Beair placing 24th.
The Wayne High boys finished fifth and LCC was sixth in the boys division. Jack Evetovich and Brandon Wacker were 22nd and 23rd, respectively, to lead the Blue Devils, while Will Anderson was 26th, Cole Hobza was 28th and Lucas Longe finished 35th. For LCC, Ryan Bathke led the team by finishing 25th, followed by Logan Hansen (29th), Justin Kinkaid (31st), Landen Boysen (33rd) and Karsen Klooz (34th).
Wayne runs in the UNK Invitational on Monday afternoon in Kearney.
