Two of the three Northeast Nebraska Crush youth baseball teams were in action in a pair of weekend tournaments.
Crush 10u competed in Gretna while the Crush 8u youth baseball team traveled to Columbus.
The Northeast Nebraska Crush 10u team went 4-1 taking second to now sit 13-1 on the season.
On Saturday, Crush 10u won 17-9 over the Harlan Cyclones and 13-7 against the Coyotes followed by Sunday victories of 10-2 over the Harlan Cyclones and 14-6 against Nebraska Prime Blue. The Crush suffered a 10-8 loss to the Gretna Thunder White in the finals.
For the weekend, Kyson Garcia led Crush 10u in hits with seven (four singles, two doubles and a triple); Andrew Smith posted a team-high eight RBI while Adrian Zarate crossed the plate eight times.
Smith (162 pitches) worked eight of the 21 innings starting three games. He allowed 12 runs (nine earned) off 15 hits while striking out 16 batters and walking three.
The Northeast Nebraska Crush 8u team went 5-0 on their way to winning the Columbus Tournament to improve to 8-4.
On Saturday, Crush 8u picked up wins over the Columbus Mariners (22-1), York Nights (6-5) and Bat Busters (17-2). The Crush won 4-2 against the Rebels to advance to the finals before winning 4-0 over the Riverdog Reds.
For the weekend, Ethan Valenzuela led Crush 8u with 10 hits (six singles, three doubles and a triple) and recorded a team-high eight runs scored as Luke Williamson posted a team-high eight RBI.
Titus Hansen (89 pitches) worked five of the 22 innings starting two games. He didn't allow a run or a hit while striking out and walking seven batters each.
