Crush 11u go 1-3 in KC

Over a period of two days, the Northeast Nebraska Crush 11u youth baseball team played four games.

From the Midwest Global State Tournament in Kansas City, Crush 11u competed on May 31 and June 1.

The Crush suffered Saturday losses of 9-2 against Oklahoma Blue Jays 11u and 7-4 to Wichita Walk-Ons 11u. On Sunday, Crush 11u won 11-6 over Marek Baseball Academy 11u before ending with a 6-5 loss to Johnson County Sluggers. The Crush are now 17-7 on the season.

Leaders at the plate for the weekend were Brock Hansen with five hits (four doubles, one homerun) along with Wyatt Dunklau with four hits (three singles, one triple).

Dunklau and Brock Hansen each posted a team-high four RBI.

Cohen Woehler, Brock Hansen, Becker Ekberg and Kailex Kalin all crossed the plate three times.

Kalin (98 pitches) worked six and two-thirds of the 22 innings pitched appearing in two games and starting one. He allowed six earned runs off seven hits while striking out five batters, walking five and hitting one.

Dunklau (89) followed with five innings starting two games. He allowed five earned runs off six hits while striking out three batters, walking four and hitting two.

Ekberg (71) worked four innings appearing in two games and starting one. He allowed six runs (two earned) off nine hits while striking out a team-high six batters.

Crush 11ub will next  compete in Omaha on June 7-8.
