A windy afternoon of high school cross country showcased Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Tri County Northeast, Winside and Wakefield runners on Oct. 16.
From Skyview Lake in Norfolk, there were 127 combined runners during the D-2 District Championships.
The LCC girls finished third with 34 points and will qualify their entire team to state while the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys scored 67 points to place sixth; Tri County Northeast girls took eighth with 67 points as the Wolfpack boys also placed eighth with 90 points; no team scoring was recorded by Winside as the Wakefield girls finished 11th with 118 points and no scoring was posted by the Trojan boys.
In the girls division, LCC district medals were highlighted by senior Kate Tasler in eighth (22:11.73) and sophomore Leah Gould in 11th (22:36.01).
Other Laurel-Concord-Coleridge results who qualified as a team to state were senior Addy Hoeppner (21st - 23:56.33), sophomore Ava Christiansen (25th - 24:14.07) and junior Faith Galvin (34th - 24:56.86).
Tri County Northeast's state qualifier was senior Alejandra Hermosillo in 15th (23:09.48) just edging her senior teammate Rachael Bousquet (16th - 23:14.03) who finished outside the top 15.
Other Wolfpack results came from sophomore Hailey Millard in 46th (26:24.29) as sophomore Chloe Peters did not start.
Winside's state qualifier was freshman Avery Brummels in ninth during a time of 22:23.28.
Another Wildcat result was posted by freshman Leah Uttecht in 48th (27:58.21).
Wakefield district results came from junior Jamie Lopez (37th - 25:39.83), junior Natalie Zuniga Hernandez (47th - 26:50.54), sophomore Katelyn Walsh (51st - 28:56.25) and junior Angie Gomez (52nd - 28:58.12).
Crofton won the girls team race with 10 points ahead of Ponca in runner-up (27) joining LCC as the team qualifiers among the 12 teams.
Freshman Avery Arens from Crofton won the D-2 District girls 5k race in a time of 17:53.66 among the 61 runners.
During the boys division, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge senior Shane Langford punched his ticket to state with a 12th place finish (19:17.46).
Other LCC results came from freshman Owen Johnson (26th - 20:32.48), sophomore Sebastian Van Drongelen (29th - 21:07.01), junior Hunter McGee (40th - 22:04.3) and junior Luke Jackson (55th - 24:09.44).
Tri County Northeast junior Jude Ridenour punched his ticket to state with a 13th place finish (19:18.42).
Other Wolfpack results were posted by senior Alex Snyder (28th - 20:58.48), sophomore Tucker Anderson (52nd - 23:48.14), juinor Matthew Bousquet (59th - 25:44.64) and freshman Logan Kraemer did not start.
Winside's lone runner was junior Ben Uttecht (63rd - 28:32.5).
Wakefield results were posted by junior William Benson (34th - 21:24.38) and junior Baldwin Garcia (46th - 22:45).
Norfolk Catholic won the boys team race with eight points ahead of Homer in runner-up (21) joining Stanton who took the third and final state qualifying spot (42) among the 13 teams.
Freshman Teddy Haake from Norfolk Catholic won the D-2 District boys 5k race in a time of 17:33.47 among the 66 runners.
The 2025 NSAA Cross Country State Championships will take place on Oct. 24 at the Kearney Country Club. Class D girls will open race competition at noon with Class D boys set to compete at 1 p.m.
