Graveside services for Darlene M. Johnson, 91, of Wayne will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Darlene died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Memorial funds in memory of Darlene may be directed to her family for a future designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Darlene Mae Johnson was born Sept. 7, 1934 near Carroll to Henry Adolph and Florence Elizabeth Marie (Becker) Rethwisch. She attended country school near Carroll and graduated from Wayne High School in 1951. Darlene married Dale Ernest Johnson June 12, 1952 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple farmed for a time, before moving into Wayne. After a few years, they moved to a farm northwest of Wayne. Darlene greatly loved farm life and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving Darlene are her daughters, Diane (Roger) Hefti of Carroll and Darci (Ken) Slama of Wakefield; sons, Dana Johnson of Wayne and Dee (Amy) Johnson of Crofton; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale in 2008; brothers, Lowell (Marilyn) Rethwisch and Dwaine (Carol) Rethwisch; brothers-in-law, Gene (Alice) Johnson and Don (Rose) Johnson; great-granddaughter, Evelyn; and three nephews.
