Services for David H. Ritze, 62, of Wayne will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 17 at United Methodist Church in Winside. Due to the weather, visitation, which was scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. today, has been cancelled.
Burial will be in Theophilus Cemetery, rural Winside, at a later date.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne
David H. Ritze died Thursday, March 9, 2023 at his home in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Ritze family for later designation.
David Harold Ritze was born in Wayne to Harold and Ruby (Fischer) Ritze Oct. 17, 1960. He was a 1979 graduate of Winside High School and attended the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado for nearly four years. He worked with his brother, Larry at a cemetery monument firm in Denver before moving to Wayne. For the next 26 years, Dave worked for Wayne State College in Maintenance and as a part time clerk at Rain Tree Liquor also in Wayne. Dave was a former member of the Theophilus Museum Board and the Theophilus Cemetery Board. He enjoyed gardening, drawing and making his signature cheesecakes.
Surviving family members include his siblings, Wilma (Lonnie) Fork of Carroll, Barbara (David) Kounovsky of Norfolk, Robert (Karla) Ritze of Columbus and Randy (Margaret) Ritze of Wayne; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Harold and Ruby (Fischer) Ritze and one brother, Larry (Deborah) Ritze.
