David James Wennekamp was born on Oct. 25, 1978 in Pender to Jenny (Porter) Engelhart Wennekamp, and he was later adopted by Donald Wennekamp. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in West Point, and from Wayne State College with a B.S. in Mass Communications. David married Angela Reid on Sept. 14, 2002 in Pender. They lived primarily in Omaha, where David worked in radio broadcasting and sales, and car sales and finance. He ultimately found his life's passion in owning and operating two food trucks in Omaha.
David brought a personal touch to all that he accomplished, whether it was crafting menus and serving meals with care or helping clients and his community. However, David's most important and cherished role was as a loving father to his two sons. He especially loved to watch each Notre Dame game with his family. Their family made many happy memories traveling to see his beloved team play in person. David also loved fitness and staying active. His family could often be found together working out, and he was always eager to share his dedication and knowledge with friends.
