Wayne High basketball began their back-to-back weekend of hoops, Winside returned to their home court, a Wayne Herald showdown between Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Tri County Northeast was held, Wakefield basketball began a series of three straight and Wakefield girls wrestling went back to work on the mat after starting the season with four competitions in six days.

 

On Dec. 12, the Wayne High girls suffered a 23-20 loss while the Blue Devil boys dropped a 71-37 decision at Wahoo.

The Wayne High girls (2-1) and boys (1-2) will return home hosting Lakeview at 2:30/4 p.m. on Dec. 13.

 

Back in Winside for a second straight night, the Winside girls lost 73-32 while the Winside boys secured a 56-53 win against Bloomfield.

The Winside girls (0-3) and boys (2-1) will next host Newman Grove/St. Ed on Dec. 16 at 5:30/7 p.m.

 

From Emerson, it marked the lone games of a six-day stretch for Tri County Northeast with the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge basketball teams town.

The LCC girls won 73-42 while the LCC boys secured a 63-53 victory over TCNE.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls (2-2) and boys (3-1) are back in action on Dec. 16 hosting Ponca starting at 4:30 p.m. for JV action.

Tri County Northeast girls (1-2) and boys (0-3) are off until Dec. 18 visiting Winside starting at 6 p.m.

 

From Wakefield, the Wakefield girls suffered a 67-6 loss while the Wakefield boys secured a 59-46 victory against Battle Creek.

The Wakefield girls (0-4) and boys (2-2) will next visit Wisner-Pilger on Dec. 13 at 3:30/5 p.m.

 

From Fort Calhoun, the Wakefield girls wrestling team finished eighth with 71.5 points among the 13 teams.

Top medalists were Ingrid Lopez (115) and Natalee Nelson (190) both placing third while a fourth place medal was posted by Naomi Nelson (140).

The Wakefield girls will next compete in the Pierce Invite on Dec. 20 at 10 a.m.
