Services for Betty L. Heithold, 82, and Delmar D. Heithold, 90, of Wayne will be held Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov.22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wayne.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Delmar died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021. Betty died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021. 

Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne.

Delmar Daniel Heithold was born July 27, 1931 in Wayne to Daniel Bernard and Rose Ann (Dorman) Heithold. He was a graduate of Wayne High School. He joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

Betty LaVonne Heithold was born May 24, 1939 in St. James to Benjamin and Vida (Warnock) Heil. Betty attended school in Cedar County. 

Delmar and Betty were umarried July 29, 1956 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. Together they farmed in rural Wakefield and Betty was a farm wife. Delmar and Betty enjoyed going to the Wayne Senior Center, where Delmar played pool and Betty played cards. Betty was an avid book reader. Delmar also enjoyed restoring classic cars and they loved dancing. 

Delmar and Betty are survived by their daughter, Marcia (Steve) Surber of Pender; son, Burdett (Marlene) Heithold of South Sioux City; grandchildren, Jon (McKenzie) Surber of Wayne and Heather (Lam) Chui of Dallas, Texas, step-grandchild Adam (Lauren) Lorensen of Katy, Texas; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren; Delmar’s sister-in-law, Madelyn Heithold, of Bancroft; Betty’s sister-in-law Rosie Hodges of Rapid City, South Dakota.

They were preceded in death by their son, Tom in 2015; Delmar was preceded in death by his brothers, Harley and Larry; Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Heil; sisters, Gwelda Rosenbaum, Lura Pinkelman and Lois Meier.
