Delores Alma Wobig, 94, of Lincoln, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024. 

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left at www.bmlfh.com.

Delores Alma Wobig was born April 21, 1929 in Pender to Otto and Elenora (Claussen) Heithold. Pastor Janke baptized Delores at the home of her grandparents, John and Anna Claussen, on June 9, 1929 and she was confirmed May 10, 1942 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. 

She attended District 59, a rural school in Dixon County, graduated from Wayne High School in 1946 and attended Wayne State College earning a teaching certificate. At the age of 17 she started teaching in rural schools in Wayne and Dixon Counties. She later graduated from the School of Aeronautics in Kansas City, Missouri and went on to work at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois and Austin Straubel Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

Delores married Dean Wobig on June 6, 1959 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. Together they raised their family and farmed southeast of Newman Grove until 1985.

Delores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served as a member of Ladies Aide and the Church Council. She also helped make many quilts through the years for Lutheran World Relief. In later years, she continued this when she became a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was a member of PEO, Sociable Sues Extension club and also served her community in many ways.

Delores will forever be remembered as the strong, loving, faithful, woman she was. She aspired to and reached perfection in everything she did. She purchased a computer and completed her memoirs when she was 84. What a role model she was.

Survivors include her sons, Randall D. (Lynn) Wobig and Randall C. (Karen) Wobig; daughter, Jane Wobig; daughter-in-law, Mary Wobig; 12 grandchildren: Scott (Deb) Wobig, Carly (Patrick) Coleman, Heather (Dan) Hejl, Ryan (June) Wobig, Justin (Erin) Brandt, Timothy (Katie) Wobig, Charles (Lindsey) Eggers, Jenny (Ross) Haselhorst, Elizabeth Eggers, Beth (Jake) Livingston, Sarah Wobig, Christopher (Jessica) Wobig and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her beloved husband, Dean; her sons, Michael Dean and Jimmy Roger; her daughter, Sally Deanne and daughter-in-law, Kathy (Metz) Wobig.
