Dendinger gets sixth straight Athlete of Week award

For the sixth consecutive time, Wayne State College’s Michaela Dendinger was named the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

The junior from Coleridge won the discus and placed second in the hammer throw and shot put at the Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln Saturday. She took first in the discus at 164 feet, 11 inches and was second in the hammer throw (195-2) and shot put (50-11 1/2).

Dendinger has NCAA automatic qualifying marks in three events, ranking second in NCAA Div. II in the shot put (52-1 3/4), second in the hammer throw (204-4) and fifth in the discus (172-10).

Wayne State will compete Friday and Saturday at the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in St. Paul, Minn.
