Wayne State College senior thrower Michaela Dendinger was named the NSIC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week following her performance in last weekend’s Alex Francis Fort Hays State Classic in Hays, Kan.
Dendinger hit NCAA automatic qualifying marks in the shot put and hammer throw and reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the discus. She won the shot put at 51 feet, 11 1/2 inches, and was second and the top collegiate thrower with a toss of 205-10 in the hammer throw in Hays, giving her the top marks in both events in NCAA Div. II after two weeks of the outdoor season. She also won the discus with a provisional qualifying mark of 162-11, which currently ranks seventh in NCAA Div. II.
Dating back to last year’s outdoor season, Dendinger has now received the NSIC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award seven consecutive times.
