Dendinger wins two events at Twilight Meet

Wayne State throwers competed Monday in the South Dakota Twilight Meet, held at Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion, S.D., with Michaela Dendinger winning two events.

Dendinger posted first-place finishes in the discus (163-1) and the hammer throw (198-0) to highlight the Wildcat effort.

Tia Jones came in third in the shot put at 42 feet, 0 1/2 inches, and was fifth in the hammer throw (144-4).

Kacie O’Connor was fourth in the discus at 147-9, Tessa Ives took sixth in the hammer throw (143-6) with Kes Burke right behind in seventh at 139-8.

The meet, moved up one day due to predicted rain on Tuesday, featured athletes from South Dakota, Augustana and the University of Sioux Falls.

A limited group of Wildcat athletes will compete Wednesday at the Mount Marty Twilight Meet in Yankton while Dendinger and O’Connor will participate in the Drake Relays Friday and Saturday at Des Moines, Iowa.
