As the date draws closer, plans are being finalized for the 10th annual Pink Flamingo Nite at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
This year's event, themed "Give Cancer the Boot,” will be held Thursday, Oct. 23. Tickets are now on sale and are available at Wayne area banks, local floral shops, Providence Medical Center Wellness Center, Missa Sue’s in Laurel, and at Our Savior Lutheran Church through Oct. 10. A QR code is also available.
Proceeds from each year's Pink Flamingo Nite go to assist in some area of the oncology department at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
The evening's schedule begins with a variety of vendors in the church's upper room at 5 p.m. A light meal will be served, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. Gluten free and nut free options will be available.
Music will be provided in the church sanctuary from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Following an invocation and welcome, door prizes will be awarded.
This year's featured speaker will be Diana Cowan of Georgia Hair Solutions, TikTok personality.
Diana Cowan is the founder and owner of Georgia Hair Solutions & Salon, with locations in Jackson, Georgia and Edmond, Oklahoma.
Information from her biography states, "Her journey began not in a salon chair but in a deeply personal struggle – her own experience with hair loss. What had once been her greatest insecurity became the very platform God used to launch a powerful and compassionate ministry.
"Diana has been called to serve women across the country who are facing hair loss due to cancer, medical conditions or other challenges. Through faith, perseverance and an unwavering heart, she created a sanctuary where women can feel seen, supported and beautiful again. Today, Diana continues to walk in her calling, beside her daughter, Laney, and 16 other amazing ladies. Together they are transforming lives, restoring confidence and giving God all the glory! Ephesians 3:20: "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us."
The evening will include an information table regarding cancer screenings and various other cancer-related topics by PMC.
A wine bar, sponsored by The Jug Store, will be available with a portion of the proceeds going to the funds raised at the event.
A quilt and an afghan will be raffled off that evening. Tickets are available where tickets for the event are being sold in Wayne and Laurel and at the church office. They may also be purchased using the QR Code. Winners need not be present.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in pink or a 'team theme' for extra fun.
The event is sponsored by Our Savior Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA, Providence Medical Center Foundation and Pac 'N' Save. Supporting funds are provided by Thrivent.
