Dirt Devil 10s Black drop one-run game, other games canceled due to weather

As one Dirt Devil softball team had their season come to an end, two more were trying to get their doubleheaders in ahead of June 25 evening storms.

The Dirt Devil 14s visited Pender while Dirt Devil 10s Black hosted Tigers Gold 10U from the Summer Sports Complex on June 25.

The Dirt Devil 14s are still 14-12 with games in Pender being canceled following Tuesday weather in the area.

The first game was called in the bottom of the second with the Dirt Devils leading 6-1 and outhitting Pender, 6-2.

Lilly Johnson tripled and drove in two runs while Elizabeth Hix doubled and scored early on.

Kamden Dobbins singled, drove in two runs and scored; Alivia Kesting singled and drove in a run; Sidney Nelson singled and scored; Gracelynn Daniels singled; Anna Dutcher accounted for a RBI as Sophie Gearhart and Olivia Brandow both scored.

Through an inning and two-a third, Kinnley McGuire (27 pitches) allowed an earned run off two hits while walking three batters.

Again, the game was canceled and will not count towards the Dirt Devil 14s schedule.

In Wayne, Dirt Devil 10s Black were able to get one of their two games complete before cancelling their second outing. The Dirt Devils (6-27) suffered a 9-8 loss against Tigers Gold 10U. The second game was then canceled early due to lightning.

Dirt Devil 10s Black held a 5-2 lead after the first inning before Tigers Gold answered with a 5-3 second and scored two more runs in the third to win 9-8. Tigers Gold outhit Dirt Devil 10s Black, 2-0.

Charli Sears scored twice while single runs came from Lennox Smith, Caroline Endicott, KayLee Nelson, Meleah Larson, Bianca Hanson and Bella Brandow.

Brynlee Suhr (29 pitches) suffered the loss in an inning allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out one, walking one and hitting two batters. Delilah Lueth (46) worked two-thirds of an inning allowing six earned runs off one hit while striking out two batters, walking five and hitting one.

Dirt Devil 10s Black were scheduled to end their regular season on June 27 hosting Golden Girls 9U.

The Dirt Devil 18s (10-8) had their June 25 home outings against Pender called off due to low player numbers from Wayne. The Dirt Devil 12s (13-12) had their home outings against Dakota Valley canceled as the Dirt Devils ended their season.

Dirt Devil 10s Red (37-3-1) were to close out their season over the weekend during the Nebraska Fastpitch 10C State Tournament in Hastings.
