Dirt Devil 10s Black drop two games in West Point

While the Dirt Devil 10s Red team was in action, Dirt Devil 10s Black took on the opposite West Point youth softball team on May 28.

Also in West Point, Dirt Devils 10s Black started with a game one outing against West Point Gray 10u followed by a second contest against West Point Diamonds 10u.

During their first game, Dirt Devil 10s Black suffered an 11-9 loss to Gray 10u before dropping an 11-1 decision to Diamonds 10u. The Dirt Devils are now 0-7-1 on the season.

In the first game, Dirt Devil 10s Black led 3-2 after the first inning. West Point Gray followed with a 5-1 advantage in the second inning before the Dirt Devils used a 5-4 third.

Final favored West Point Gray 10u winning 11-9 despite being outhit, 6-4. Neither team committed an error.

Skylar Jones doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored; Maggie Sorenson doubled and scored twice as Harper Rockhill singled twice, drove in two runs and scored.

Gracie Lueth singled; Grace Foote accounted for a RBI and run scored; Adalyn  Brokaw added a RBI as single runs came from Brynn Virgil, Bexley Sutter, Ophelia Roy-Schmitz and Lennox Ruwe.

Sutter (65 pitches) started the opening inning and two-thirds allowing seven earned runs off two hits while striking out three batters, walking nine and hitting three. Sorenson (38) worked an inning allowing four earned runs off two hits while striking out three batters, walking two and hitting two.

During the second outing with a West Point team, Diamonds 10u began by scoring three runs in the first inning and added five additional runs in the bottom of the second. Following a scoreless third, Dirt Devil 10s Black produced a run in the top of the fourth before Diamonds 10u closed with three runs.

Final favored West Point Diamonds winning 11-1 while outhitting the Dirt Devils, 4-0. Neither team committed an error.

Rockhill scored the lone run for the Dirt Devils off a wild pitch.

Sorenson (65) pitched two and a third innings allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out and walking five batters each as well as hitting one. No other pitching stats were posted for the additional inning and a third allowing eight earned runs off two hits while striking out four batters and walking five.
