Two of the younger Dirt Devil youth softball teams were featured among the 10u division of the Dirt Devil Invite held May 30 - June 1.
From the Summer Sports Complex, Dirt Devil 10s Red finished 2-4 while 10s Black went 0-4.
Dirt Devil 10s Red started with a Friday 12-3 loss to Kelly's Fastpitch - Peters 10u followed by Saturday games of an 11-5 win over Dirt Devil 10s Black, 9-6 loss against T-H Tigers 10u and an 11-0 loss to NE Quakes - Sinica 10u. On Sunday, Dirt Devil 10s Red won 12-0 over Dirt Devil 10s Black but lost 12-0 to NE Quakes - Sinica 10u during the semifinal roud of the single elimination bracket. The Dirt Devils are now 10-9 on the season.
For the Dirt Devils over the weekend, KayLee Nelson recorded a team-high five hits (one single, three doubles, one homerun) followed by Delilah Lueth (three singles, one double) and Caroline Endicott (four singles) both with four hits.
Nelson also led the team with six RBI along with Delilah Lueth who added three RBI.
Nelson posted a team-high seven runs scored while Delilah Lueth tallied five RBI and four runs batted in by Kiersten Allen and Endicott.
The Dirt Devils used seven different pitchers with Brynlee Suhr (92 pitches) worked three and two-thirds of the 13 and a third innings appearing in two games and starting one. She allowed seven earned runs off four hits while striking out eight batters, walking five and hitting one.
Paisllie Erwin (69) pitched three eand a third appearing in three games and starting one. She allowed three runs (two earned) off five hits while striking out seven batters, walking three and hitting one.
Finn Mueller (112) saw action in two and a two-thirds appearing in two games and starting one. She allowed 10 earned runs off four hits while striking out five batters, walking 12 and hitting three.
Dirt Devil 10s Black suffered losses of 15-0 to TH Tigers on Friday, 11-5 against Dirt Devil 10s Red and 12-0 to NE Quakes - Sinical 10u both on Saturday before ending with a first round loss in tourney play on Sunday of 12-0 to Dirt Devil 10s Red. The Dirt Devils fell to 0-11-1 on the season.
For the Dirt Devils over the weekend, Gracie Lueth, Bexley Sutter and Harper Rockhill all produced a single.
Rockhill and Adalyn Brokaw each led the team with a RBI.
Runs were scored by Brynn Virgil, Skylar Jones, Grace Foote, Sutter, Brokaw and Izzy McIntosh.
Maggie Sorenson (196) worked four and a third of the six and a third innings recorded appearing in three games and starting two. She allowed 25 runs (24 earned) off 15 hits while striking out 11 batters, walking 13 and hitting four.
An upcoming weekend tournament will showcase Dirt Devil 10s Red during the 10C District in Alrington from June 6 - 8. The Dirt Devils will open against DC West at 6:30 p.m. Friday night during the 22-team, double elimination tourney. The Dirt Devil 10s Black will no be in action during the district tournament weekend.
