Two of the younger Dirt Devil softball programs opened their season on May 12.
From the Summer Sports Complex, 10s Red competed against 10s Black.
Game one went back-and-forth until 10s Red picked up an 8-7 victory followed by a 15-3 win in the night cap during a pair of three inning games. Dirt Devil 10s Red began their season at 2-0 while 10s Black fell to 0-2.
In game one, Caroline Endicott doubled and scored twice while Delilah Lueth doubled, drove in a run and scored to lead 10s Red.
Lueth (66 pitches) started the game working an inning and two-thirds allowing seven earned runs off two hits while striking out four batters, walking nine and hitting one. Brynlee Suhr (17) worked an inning walking three batters.
For Dirt Devil 10s Black, Adalyn Brokaw singled and drove in two runs while Maggie Sorenson singled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Sorenson (45) started and pitched an inning and a third allowing five runs (four earned) off two hits while striking out and walking three batters as well as hitting one. Lennox Ruwe (17) didn't record an out allowing three earned runs while walking three batters and hitting one.
During game two, Meleah Larson doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Suhr doubled and scored for 10s Red.
Suhr (22) started and worked an inning just striking out two batters and walking three. Finn Mueller (62) pitched two innings allowing three earned runs while striking out three batters, walking nine and hitting one.
Dirt Devil 10s Black were led by Grace Foote, Brynn Virgil and Ruwe all scoring a run.
Bexely Sutter (44 pitches) didn't record an out allowing eight earned runs while walking nine batters. Brokaw (33) didn't record an out allowing seven earned runs off two hits while walking three batters.
Both Dirt Devil 10s teams and the Dirt Devil 12s (2-4) will compete in the Kelly's Tournament held in Norfolk May 16 - 18.
