Dirt Devil 12s race out to early lead

Following a week off from competition, the Dirt Devil 12 & under youth softball team returned to the diamond for mid-week competition.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devils welcomed Jaguars 12u on May 28.

The Dirt Devil 12s took charge early in both games to win 4-2 and 18-0. The Dirt Devils are now 8-6-1 on the season.

In the opening game, the Dirt Devil 12s used a three-run first inning before giving up one run in the top of the second. Both teams scored one run in the fourth.

Final favored the Dirt Devil 12s winning 4-2 while outhitting the Jaguars, 6-1. The Dirt Devils committed the lone error of the game.

Sadi Fredrickson tripled, drove in a run and scored as Harper Hanson doubled and scored.

Penelope Zavada-Cupp singled twice; Izzy Ruwe singled and drove in a run; Zoe Myer accounted for a RBI as MaKenna Williamson scored.

Williamson (88 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in five innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking five.

During the second outing, the Dirt Devil 12s took control early with six runs in the first inning followed by five runs in the second. Playing as the visiting team in game two, they also scored seven runs in the top of the third.

Final favored the Dirt Devils winning 18-0 while outhitting Jaguars 12u, 10-1. Neither team committed and error.

Williamson singled, tripled twice, drove in two runs and scored three times; Hanson recorded a two-run homerun, singled, drove in three total runs and crossed the plate three timees as Kiley Dutcher singled twice, drove in three runs and scored.

Nora Heithold singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Fredrickson and Rebecca Fowle both singled and scored; Myer accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Ruwe scored twice as single runs came from Zavada Cupp, Kenna Halle and Kensley Holz.

Hanson (37 pitches) started the opening two innings striking out five batters, walking one and hitting one. Fredrickson (22) closed out the final inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter and walking three.
