Weeknight home competition began on May 15 for the Dirt Devil 14s.
From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devils played host to Norfolk Golden Girls Severance 14U.
The Dirt Devil 14s gave up a 10-run fourth inning in game one to fall 12-6 followed by a 13-2 loss where seven runs were plated in the first inning by the Golden Girls. The Dirt Devils began their season at 0-2.
In the opening game, Reagan McManigal singled three times, drove in two runs and scored twice while Lucille Ocampo doubled and drove in a run.
Hadley Woehler singled and drove in a run; Ady Hays and Sidney Nelson both singled and scored twice as Olivia Brandow accounted for a RBI.
Brandow (94 pitches) started the opening three and a third innings allowing nine runs (eight earned) off five hits while striking out one batter and walking nine. Dunklau (24) worked two-thirds allowing three runs (two earned) off two hits while walking two batters.
During the second outing, Hays singled and scored; Avery Gubbels accounted for a RBI as McManigal scored.
Ocampo (27 pitches) started the game working a third of an inning allowing seven earned runs off four hits while walking one batter and hitting three. Dunklau (73) pitched two and a third innings allowing six runs (two earned) off five hits while striking out three batters and walking five.
