SIOUX FALLS, SD/HASTINGS – Two Dirt Devil softball programs took part in their Saturday portion of their respective tournaments.
Back at the Sherman Softball Complex during the Ringneck International Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Dirt Devil 18s split their Saturday outings.
The Dirt Devils (15-11) suffered a 3-1 loss against SD Lonewolf-Athletics before winning 9-1 over Kansas Heatwave 18U. On Friday, the Dirt Devil 18s opened pool seven competition with a 2-0 win over Prodigy Nationals Thompson 18U.
In the loss against SD Lonewolf-Athletics, neither team scored the first three and a half innings until SD Lonewolf poured in three runs during the home half of the fourth. The Dirt Devil 18s answered with a run in the top of the fifth but suffered a 3-1 loss as both teams recorded five hits.
Reagan McGuire singled and drove in a run while Rylin Hall, Jordyn Gamble, Kassidee Holz and Liberty Titiml all singled.

Sammi Gubbels (86 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in four and two-thirds allowing three earned runs off five hits while striking out six batters and walking three.
During the win with Kansas Heatwave 18U, the Dirt Devil 18s started with two runs in the first inning. Following a scoreless second, the Dirt Devils added six runs in the third.
Kansas Heatwave scored a run in the fourth while the Dirt Devil 18s answered with a run in the fifth to win 9-1 and win the hit department, 11-0.
Hall singled, recorded a two-run homerun and drove in three total runs; Alexis Legler posted a two-run homerun and drove in three total runs as McGuire added a solo homerun with two total runs scored. Sammi Gubbels singled twice and drove in a run as Holz singled twice.
Delaney Kruse singled and scored twice; Gamble and Titiml both singled; Lily Gubbels scored twice as Jayda Stallbaum scored.
Sammi Gubbels (46 pitches) picked up the complete game no-hit victory in four innings allowing one run while striking out four batters and walking one.
The Dirt Devil 18s earned a spot in the 18U A Division bracket on Sunday.
Back in Hastings during the Class C Nebraska Fastpitch Championships, the Dirt Devil 14s went 1-1 on Saturday after dealing with a weather delay.
The Dirt Devils (22-15-1) suffered an 8-4 loss against Yutan 14U before winning 8-1 over CNSA Rogers-Pack 14U. On Friday, the Dirt Devil 14s won 12-2 against Lady Rebels 14U and 8-7 over Nebraska Raptors.
In the loss against Yutan 14U, neither team scored the first two innings. Yutan 14U used a 4-2 advantage in the third inning while the Dirt Devils tied the game at 4-4 thanks to a two-run fourth. Yutan recorded a four-run fifth to win 8-4 and won the hit department, 8-6.
Kamden Dobbins recorded a two-run homerun; Lilly Johnson singled, doubled and drove in two runs as Alivia Kesting singled twice and scored.
Sidney Nelson singled and scored as Kinnley McGuire scored.
McGuire (76 pitches) suffered the loss in four innings allowing eight runs (six earned) off six hits while striking out four batters, walking two and hitting two. Johnson (17) worked a third of an inning allowing two hits while striking out and walking one batter each.
From victory over CNSA Rogers-Pack 14U, the Dirt Devil 14s scored twice in the first inning. Following a scoreless second, the Dirt Devils added a run in the third and used a 5-1 advantage in the fourth to win 8-1. The Dirt Devil 14s also won the hit department, 9-2.
Dobbins singled, tripled and drove in two runs; Nelson singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Anna Dutcher singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Johnson singled, drove in a run and scored twice; McGuire singled and scored; Elizabeth Hix singled as Abbey Schultheis scored.
McGuire (57 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out six batters, walking three and hitting two.
