It was championship Sunday during the Dirt Devil Invite which showcased another set of schedule changes and delays due to overnight rain.
Per the Dirt Devil Softball Association: "Due to rain overnight (Saturday into Sunday), our Silver Bracket Play (was) canceled on Sunday, May 31. Gold Bracket Play (was) moved to the following locations: 10s and 12s at Wayne State College Dome (102 Lindahl Drive/Large White Bubble to the north of RICE Auditorium; Please park and enter from the east parking lot). 14s and 18s at Wayne State College (Pete Chapman Softball Field)."
From the Pete Chapman Softball Complex on the campus of Wayne State College, the Dirt Devil 16/18s competed in the Gold Bracket and suffered a single elimination loss of 4-3 to Kelly's Fastpitch 18U - Kassmeier.
Next up for the Dirt Devils (4-2) will be road action at Logan View on June 2 at 6 p.m.
From the Pete Chapman Softball Complex on the campus of Wayne State College, the Dirt Devil 14s were also in Gold Bracket play and began with a 7-6 win over Kelly's Fastpitch 14U - Carpenter thanks to a walk-off homer by Zoe Myer.
In the finals, the Dirt Devils dropped a 6-2 decision to Nebraska Golden Girls 14U to finish runner-up.
The Dirt Devil 14s (12-5-1) will next host Dakota Valley on June 2 at 6/7:30 p.m.
Three other Dirt Devil teams were slated to compete in the Silver Bracket, but were canceled due to overnight rain.
The Dirt Devil 12s (0-15-1) will next host Tekamah-Herman 12U on June 1 at 6/7:30 p.m.
Dirt Devil 10s Black (6-9) will next play (TBA)
Dirt Devil 10s Red (3-12) are back in action hosting Kelly's 9U - Hahne on June 2 at 6:30 p.m.
