Dirt Devil 12s, 10s Red in action June 17

Following a busy weekend in Yankton, South Dakota for tourney action, Dirt Devil 12s and 10s Red youth softball teams returned to northeast Nebraska outings on June 17.

From Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk, Dirt Devil 12s won 14-3 at Golden Girls - Spiegel to improve to 18-14-1 as Dirt Devil 10s Red (16-16-2) won twice of 10-9 and 16-5 over Golden Girls 10u at the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne.

Leaders during the single Dirt Devil 12s outing: Kenna Halle singled twice, drove in four runs and scored; Penelope Zavada-Cupp singled twice, drove in two runs and scored as Harper Hanson singled twice, drove in a run and scored. MaKeanna Williamson (single) also drove in two runs and scored three times.

Williamson (74 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing three earned runs off five hits while striking out and walking four batters each.

In the first Dirt Devil 10s Red victory, Charli Sears singled, drove in two runs and scored as Finn Mueller singled, drove in a run and scored. Paisllie Erwin also scored twice.

Delilah Lueth (74 pitches) started the opening three innings allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out six batters and walking eight.

During the night cap, Delilah Lueth recorded a solo homerun, singled and also scored twice; Mueller doubled and scored twice as KayLee Nelson doubled and scored three times. Caroline Endicott (two runs) also drove in a run.

Mueller (31) started the opening two innings striking out four batters, walking two and hitting one.

Dirt Devil 12s will next host West Point Yellow 12u on June 19 at 6 p.m. as Dirt Devil 10s Red will also be in action on Thursday hosting Wisner at 6/7:30 p.m.

 

 

Dirt Devil 16/18s win silver division during Father's Day Tournament

Dirt Devil 16/18s were crowned champion of the Silver Division bracket during the 33rd annual YGSA Father's Day Tournament.

The Dirt Devils went 3-2 between June 13 - 15 in Yankton, South Dakota.

Dirt Devil 16/18s first suffered a 14-6 loss to Yankton Fury White on Friday followed by a Saturday split of 12-0 victory over South Dakota Select 18u before dropping a 3-2 decision to South Dakota Intensity 16u. On Sunday in the Silver Division bracket, Dirt Devil 16/18s won 7-0 over Shockwave Prime - Harrel 18u and defeated South Dakota Select, 9-2 in the finals.

The Dirt Devils are now 14-10-1 on the season.

Leaders at the plate were Lily Gubbels with nine hits (seven singles, two doubles) followed by Kinnley McGuire (five singles, one double, one triple) and Anna Dutcher (six singles, one homerun) both with seven hits. RBI leaders each with six were Gubbels, Reagan McGuire and Kinnley McGuire. Reagan McGuire and Kinnley McGuire also both crossed the plate six times.

Jordyn Gamble (248 pitches) pitched 15 innings starting four games. She allowed 16 runs (nine earned) off 18 hits while striking out 17 batters and walking three.

Kinnley McGuire (103) worked five innings appearing in two games and starting one. She allowed three earned runs off eight hits while striking out three batters, walking two and hitting one.

Dirt Devil 16/18s will be off until Tuesday, June 24 hosting Pender 18u at 6:30/8 p.m.

 

 

Dirt Devil 14s go 0-4 in Yankton

Dirt Devil 14s dropped four games on June 14 - 15.

From Yankton, South Dakota the Dirt Devils joined three other youth softball programs from Wayne for the 33rd annual YGSA Father's Day Tournament.

Dirt Devil 14s lost Saturday games of 10-1 to South Dakota Players - Wajer 13u, 13-6 against BV Venom 14u and 14-4 to TSC Aftershock 14u. On Sunday, Dirt Devil 14s ended the tourney with a 20-2 loss to TSC Tornadoes 13u.

The Dirt Devils fell to 10-14 on the season.

Leaders were Hadley Woehler (three singles, one double) and Ady Hays (all singles) both with four hits as Chloe Kai (two singles, one triple) followed with three hits. Avery Gubbels posted a team-high three RBI with Hays tacked on two RBI. Woehler crossed the plate three times along with Hays and Kai both with two runs scored.

Olivia Brandow (185 pitches) pitched five and a third of the 14 innings appearing in three games and starting one. She allowed 25 runs (16 earned) off 15 hits while walking 14 batters.

Hadley Dunklau (120) worked four and two-thirds appearing in three games. She allowed 17 runs (15 earned) off 16 hits while striking out one batter and walking eight.

An upcoming tournament will be the Logan Valley League Tourney for the Dirt Devil 14s from June 20 - 22 in West Point. The Dirt Devils will also host Crofton on Thursday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

 

 

Dirt Devil 12s capture runner-up finish in silver division

Dirt Devil 12s played six games recently in the 33rd annual YGSA Father's Day Tournament in Yankton, South Dakota.

The Dirt Devils took runner-up in the Silver Division bracket after going 3-3.

Dirt Devil 12s began with a 17-3 win Friday night over Sanford Sports Academy Black 12u before falling twice on Saturday of 16-6 to SD Players Red 11u and 10-6 against Lancers 12u. On Sunday, Dirt Devil 12s won 6-3 over EPJ Huskies, secured a 7-1 victory against Brookings Outlaws - Miller 12u before falling 5-4 in the finals to SD Players White 12u.

The Dirt Devils are now 17-14-1 on the season.

Leaders were Harper Hanson (five singles, two doubles, two triples) with nine hits; MaKenna Williamson (four singles, three doubles) added seven hits as Penelope Zavada-Cupp (five singles, one double) tallied six hits. Hanson posted a team-high six RBI followed by Zavada-Cupp and Williamson each with five RBI. Hanson crossed the plate nine times as Williamson scored six times.

Hanson (270 pitches) pitched 13 innings starting three games. She allowed 22 runs (19 earned) off 22 hits while striking out 12 batters, walking 12 and hitting two.

Williamson (222) worked 12 innings starting in three games. She allowed 16 runs (12 earned) off 13 hits while striking out eight batters, walking 11 and hitting five.

 

 

Dirt Devil 10s Red competes at Yankton Tourney

Dirt Devil 10s Red took to the road for the 33rd annual YGSA Father's Day Tournament.

From Yankton, South Dakota, the Dirt Devils went 0-3-1 between June 13 - 15.

Dirt Devil 10s Red first lost 10-9 to Panthers 10u and 15-4 against SD Players Black 10u on Friday. Dirt Devil 10s Red tied 15-15 on Saturday with Yankton Lancers 10u before closing with an 11-6 loss to SD Players Red - Ribstein 9/10u on Sunday.

The Dirt Devils moved to 14-16-2 on the season.

Leaders were Caroline Endicott with five hits (all singles) followed by Meleah Larson with four hits (two singles, one double, one triple). Larson also drove in a team-high five runs followed by Delilah Lueth with four RBI. KayLee Nelson scored seven runs along with Endicott and Charli Sears both with five runs.

Finn Mueller (105 pitches) pitched two innings among the six pitchers used appearing in three games. She allowed 13 earned runs off six hits while striking out three batters, walking 13 and hitting four.

Endicott (132) worked an inning and two-thirds appearing in three games and starting two. She allowed 20 earned runs off nine hits while striking out three batters, walking 14 and hitting five.

 

 

Dirt Devil 10s Black wins twice at league tournament

While four Dirt Devil softball teams traveled to Yankton, South Dakota for a weekend tournament, Dirt Devil 10s Black competed in the Logan Valley League Tournament in Arlington.

Games were held between June 13 - 15.

The Dirt Devils picked up their first wins of the season starting with a 13-12 Friday night victory over Bancroft. On Saturday, Dirt Devil 10s Black then lost 13-2 to Fremont Force - Kroenke 10u; won 15-13 against Wisner Rec 10u before falling 11-5 to Norfolk Golden Girls - Luebe 10u.

The Dirt Devils are now 2-19-1 on the season.

Leaders for the weekend were Maggie Sorenson (two singles), Grace Foote (two singles) as well as Harper Rockhill (one single, one double) all with two hits. Sorenson, Bexley Sutter and Rockhill all led the team with two RBI. Sorenson posted a team-high six runs scored followed by Rockhill crossing the plate five times.

Sorenson (141 pitches) pitched four and two-thirds appearing in two games and starting one. She allowed 17 runs (15 earned) off nine hits while striking out 11 batters, walking eight and hitting six.

Adalyn Brokaw (131) worked three innings appearing in three games and starting two. She allowed 15 runs (13 earned) off four hits while striking out six batters, walking 12 and hitting four.

Dirt Devil 10s Black is next scheduled to visit Bancroft on Thursday, June 19 at 6/7:30 p.m.

 

 

Dirt Devil 16/18s win, tie with Ponca

In-between weekend tourney action, Dirt Devil 16/18s played host to a pair of northeast Nebraska youth softball teams on June 12.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devils first secured a 15-3 win over Ponca Summer 16u followed by a 1-1 tie against Ponca Summer 18u.

Dirt Devil 18s moved to 11-8-1.

In the opening contest, Lily Gubbels singled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice; Kinnley McGuire singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice times as Lilly Johnson and Reagan McGuire both singled twice and scored three times.

Rylin Hall singled, drove in a run and scored three times; Jordyn Gamble singled and scored; Alivia Kesting accounted for two RBI as Anna Dutcher scored.

Kinnley McGuire (62 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing three runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out four batters and walking five.

During the second outing, Johnson singled and scored.

Other singles came from Reagan McGuire, Gubbels and Gracelynn Daniels.

Gamble (82 pitches) pitched all five innings in the tie allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out seven batters and walking three.

 

 

Dirt Devil 14s split home doubleheader

A home doubleheader was on the schedule for Dirt Devil 14s on June 12 before going back on the road for a weekend tournament.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Dirt Devils split games against Ponca 14u with a 10-8 loss followed by a 17-1 victory. Dirt Devil 14s moved to 10-10.

In the opening game, Ady Hays singled, tripled and scored twice as Olivia Brandow singled twice, drove in a run and scored.

Abbey Shultheis singled; Chloe Kai scored twice as single runs came from Elizabeth Hix, Hadley Dunklau and Josie Haglund.

Dunklau (78 pitches) pitched three and two-thirds allowing nine runs (four earned) off five hits while striking out three batters and walking five. Stats were missing for a third of an inning allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out one batter.

During the second outing, Sidney Nelson singled four times, drove in a run and scored three times; Reagan McManigal singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times; Haglund singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored as Hays and Lucille Ocampo both doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Dunklau singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Avery Gubbels accounted for a RBI and two runs scored as Hix scored twice.

Ocampo (51 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out two batters and walking three.

 

 

Dirt Devil 12s win twice at West Point Grey

With another weekend tourney on the docket, June 12 was meant for regular season action for the Dirt Devil 12s.

From West Point, the Dirt Devils won both games by the same score (15-2) over West Point Grey 12u. Dirt Devil 12s improved to 14-11-1.

In the opening game, Harper Hanson singled, tripled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Zoe Myer doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored; MaKenna Williamson tripled, drove in three runs and scored three times as Penelope Zavada-Cupp doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Nora Heithold singled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Sadi Fredrickson singled and scored three times; Kiley Dutcher singled and drove in two runs; Kenna Halle singled and scored as Willa Ruth scored twice.

Fredrickson (62 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out five batters, walking four and hitting one.

During the second outing, Izzy Ruwe singled, drove in three runs and scored while Harper Hanson, Dutcher and Zavada-Cupp all singled, drove in two runs and scored.

Myer singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Kensley Holz singled, drove in a run and scored; Fredrickson accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Ruth added a RBI and run scored; Williamson scored three times as Heithold scored twice.

Fredrickson (55 pitches) picked up the complete game win in three innings allowing two runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out three batters and walking two.

 

 

Dirt Devil 10s Black falls twice on June 12

Ahead of weekend league tournament action, Dirt Devil 10s Black played twice on the road.

From Tekamah, the Dirt Devils suffered losses of 13-5 and 15-2 to Tekamah-Herman on June 12. Dirt Devil 10s Black fell to 0-17-1.

In the opening game, Grace Foote singled and drove in two runs while Gracie Lueth singled and scored.

Brynn Virgil accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Erin Wieland added a RBI as Adalyn Brokaw and Maggie Sorenson both scored.

Sorenson (91 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in an inning and a third allowing 13 earned runs off nine hits while striking out two batters, walking eight and hitting one.

During the second outing, Harper Rockhill singled and drove in a run as Brokaw singled and scored. Bexley Sutter also scored.

Brokaw (75 pitches) pitched an inning and two-thirds allowing 10 runs (nine earned) off five hits while striking out one batter, walking seven and hitting one. Sutter (29) worked two-thirds allowing five earned runs off one hit while striking out one batter and walking four.

 

 

Chalk up two wins for Dirt Devil 10s Red

After dropping four straight from June 7 - 10, it was time to get back on the winning track for Dirt Devil 10s Red.

From Oakland, the Dirt Devils picked up road wins of 15-8 and 6-5 on Wednesday, June 11.

Dirt Devil 10s Red moved to 14-13-1.

In the opening game, Caroline Endicott singled twice, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times; KayLee Nelson singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; Bianca Hanson singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored as Charli Sears doubled and scored twice.

Finn Mueller singled and scored twice; Kiersten Allen singled and scored; Delilah Lueth accounted for a RBI and two runs scored; Brynlee Suhr added a RBI and run scored as Meleah Larson scored.

Lueth (31 pitches) started the first inning allowing two earned runs off three hits while striking out two batters and walking one.

Paisllie Erwin (48) worked two-thirds allowing five earned runs off two hits while striking out two batters, walking five and hitting one. Endicott closed out the final inning allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out two batters, walking one and hitting one.

During the night cap Mueller doubled and scored.

Endicott, Nelson and Hanson all singled and scored; Sears added a single as Suhr and Larson both scored.

Endicott (25 pitches) began with a third of an inning allowing four earned runs while striking out one batter, walking two and hitting four.

Nelson (43) followed the next inning and two-thirds striking out five batters and walking three. Mueller (43) closed out the final two innings allowing an earned run while striking out six batters and walking three.
