Dirt Devils 12-under team wins first tourney

The Wayne Dirt Devils went 4-1-1 on the weekend and came away with the first-place trophy in the Kelly's Spring Swing in Norfolk.
Wayne went 1-1-1 in pool play, tying the Norfolk Golden Girls (2-2) Friday and beating the Bullets 12's (10-6) before losing to Kearney DMilaco (7-5) Saturday.
In single-elimination action Sunday, Wayne beat the Bullets 11's 10-6, handled the Golden Girls 9-3 and avenged their loss to DMilaco with a 9-4 win in the finals. Amara Hurlbert had a double and triple, drove in four runs and scored three times to lead the win. Mikaela McManigal added two hits and Kendall Dorey got the complete-game win, striking out six.
The 12-under Devils host the Norfolk Golden Girls on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.
