Services for Donna J. Hansen, 87, of Wayne, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 18 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

She died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Providence Medical Center after a short illness.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation, or to the American Cancer Society or Habitat for Humanity.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Donna Joanne (Lage) Hansen was born Aug. 7, 1936 at the family farm home south of Wayne to Martin Lage and Anne (Peterson) Lage. She went to grade school at District 23 south of Wayne, to high school in Wayne, and graduated from the Nebraska State Teachers College at Wayne (as Wayne State was called then) in 1957. On Feb. 3, 1957 she married Lester Hansen at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Donna was a farm wife while the children were young. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wayne and served in various leadership roles and mission activities, including recording radio spots for the UMC. She was also a 4-H leader, involved in drama productions and served as the county chair for the American Cancer Society. 

In 1977 she was the Wayne Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Farm Wife. 

She worked for 20 years at the State National Bank in Wayne, serving as teller and then an officer while supervising the drive-in branch. She enjoyed the Supper Club, the Minerva Club, gardening, quilting, photography, reading, biking, the outdoors and vacationing in the mountains, and spending time with family.

Survivors include sons, David (Lisa) Hansen of Severance, Colorado; Marvin (Rhonda) Hansen of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dale (Denise) Hansen of Wichita, Kansas; and daughter, Connie (Scott) Samek of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Hansen of Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, Martin and Anne (Peterson) Lage; her sister, Nadine (Gene) Cumming; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo (Esther) Hansen, Laurence (Frances) Hansen, Herbert (Margaret Mary) Hansen and Leona (Harold) Magnuson; and children, Deborah Hansen and Kevin Hansen.
