Private services are planned for Dr. Kenneth G. Hallgren, 73, of Winside

He died Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home rural Winside.

Memorials may be directed to the Hallgren family for later designation.

Dr. Kenneth Glenn Hallgren was born Jan. 17, 1950 in Norfolk to Glenn and Kathleen (Schroeder) Hallgren Kenneth was a graduate of Newman Grove High School.  He received his Associate’s Degree from Norfolk Junior College in 1970, B.A.E. from Wayne State College in 1977, Master’s Degree from Wayne State College in 1977 and his Doctorate Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980. Dr. Hallgren was awarded a fellowship in the Fulbright Scholar Program with the University of Brasov in Romania for the1994 - 1995 academic year. Over the years he taught at Norfolk Senior High from 1974 to 1977, was the general manager for a food development group, director of a small business development center in Maine, and Associate Professor of marketing at Husson College.  He was a Professor of Business at Wayne State College, starting in 1986 until retiring in May of 2017.  Kenneth had a passion for antiques and loved spending time with his rescue dog, Benny.

Survivors include his siblings, Keith (Carol) Hallgren of Newman Grove, Dean (Paula) Hallgren of Gretna and DeAnn Nelson of Newman Grove; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Leon Nelson; great-nephew, Hunter Hallgren and great-niece, Alyshia Samuelson.
