This is the true tale of a dairy farmer’s daughter who grew up to be the queen of her very own real-life palace.
The story begins where opportunity meets fate: Highway 11 in Butte, Nebraska, 1984. The dairy farmer’s daughter was working as the flag girl for a construction crew on the highway between Butte and Fairfax, South Dakota. A gentleman and his wife from Allen, Nebraska, Jack and Anne Meyer, approached the woman with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Of course she couldn’t refuse such an offer, so she dropped the sign and picked up the keys to her very own business: a bar & grill inside of a former bank in the metropolis of Dixon, Nebraska — population 107.
Her eyes beaming, Euni Diediker recalls, “I always wanted my own place and I knew I’d call it Euni’s Palace. I wanted a big sign with roving lights around it… I settled for a spotlight.”
