Services with military rites for Duane W. Schroeder, 76, of Wayne will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at First United Methodist Church in Wayne.

He died Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the Wakefield Health Care Center.

Memorials may be directed to Pheasants Forever and American Legion Post 43.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Duane William Schroeder was born May 15, 1947 to William and Mildred (Doerr) in Osmond. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Wayne State College and UNL College of Law. Duane married Betty Dollison in David City on Dec. 27, 1969. Together they taught at Osmond for two years, later moving to Wayne in 1975 where he practiced law. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard, American Legion Post #43, founding member of Logan Creek Pheasants Forever, Cedar-Knox Burn Unit, American Legion Riders, Goldwing Riders, Wayne Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and 4-H. In 2011 Duane had the honor of being named Wayne Citizen Of The Year. He was very active in the community and his civic contributions were innumerable. He enjoyed his time with the American Legion Post 43, American Legion Riders and Cedar-Knox Burn Unit. Duane loved traveling throughout the Southwest and Rocky Mountains on his Goldwing, as well as logging many miles with the Goldwing Riders.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Wayne; daughter, Erin (Shawn) Braun of Victoria, Kansas; son, Trevor (Krista Magnuson) Schroeder of Boston, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jasper Perrigo currently aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, Tyrell Perrigo of Hays, Kansas, Anton Schroeder and Conrad Schroeder of Boston, Massachusetts; brothers, Leon Schroeder of Bloomfield and Stanley Schroeder of Bloomfield; nieces, Kayla (Anthony) Schaefer, Staci (Tom) Ketelsen, and Alisha Schroeder; nephews, Jeremy (Dara) Schroeder and Troy Schroeder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mildred Schroeder; mother and father-in-law, Myron and Catherin Dollison; sisters-in-law, Debra Schroeder and Emily Schroeder.
