Early second half goal favors visiting Ichabods, WSC drops second straight

One final non-conference women’s soccer match was played on the home pitch for Wayne State College.

From the WSC Soccer Complex, the Wildcats welcomed Washburn on Sunday.

Washburn used an early second half goal to hold onto the 1-0 victory over the host Wildcats to improve to 2-2. WSC fell to 1-2-1 on the season.

Washburn scored 29 seconds into the second half (45:29) to place the lone goal of the afternoon in the back of the net.

Morgan Rhodes finished with two shots on goal while Jordan Bedard, Alyssa Ferin and Rachel Davis all had a shot on goal for WSC.

Riann Daas and Maia Vacks both attempted a shot.

Sidney Truman was in goal all 90 minutes allowing the lone goal while recording two saves.

Washburn held a 15-7 advantage in shot attempts, despite WSC using a 5-3 total on goal. Washburn was credited with five corner kicks compared to zero by Wayne State College.
