Six candidates were interviewed on Wednesday to fill the position of Wayne County Commissioner for District 2.
Wayne County Clerk Joni Tietz, Wayne County Treasurer Lisa Lindsay and Wayne County Attorney Amy K. Miller presided at the meeting. Members of the public were invited to present questions, either in person or via email.
Following the completion of the interviews the three deliberated and rated the applicants on several criteria.
Amy Miller, chairman of the group, then brought forth the name of Matt Eischeid to fill the vacancy.
He received unanimous approval from the committee and will be appointed to the position.
Others who submitted applications were Chris Woehler, DJ Dunklau, Sandra Bernt, Dwaine Junck and Travis Hefti.
Eischeid will fill the remainder of the term which was vacated after former Commissioner Dean Burbach was recalled from the position in January.
