Elaine M. Lage, 99, of Carroll, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at her home at Kinship Pointe in Wayne.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at the United Methodist Church in Carroll. The Rev. Charity Potter will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the United Methodist Church in Carroll. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Carroll.

Memorials may be directed to Elaine’s family for later designation.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Elaine Mildred Lage was born Sept. 24, 1926 in Belden to Floyd Raymond and Lillian (Griesel) Spike. She attended Cedar County Country School and graduated from Laurel High School. During Maurice’s military service, he and Elaine married May 26, 1945 in Paris, Texas. She worked at Sioux City Battery in Sioux City, Iowa for two years. Then after the couple moved back to the Carroll area, she was a housewife and mother. Elaine worked at the Wayne Vision Center from 1971 to 1992. She was a devoted member of the Carroll United Methodist Church who loved spending time with her family. Elaine enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. 

Survivors include her son, Les (Cyndee) Lage of Carroll; daughter-in-law, Vee Lage of Laurel; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Smith Hokamp of Wayne and Joyce (Earl) Lundahl of Wayne; sister-in-law, Joan Lage of Wayne; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice Leon in 1998; sons, Rex in 2000 and Mike in 2006; brothers-in-law, Lester (Bud) Smith and Steve Hokamp; and nephew, Larry Smith.

Pallbearers will be Rick Lage, Ross Lage, Riley Lage, Brian Van Berkum, Nick Hoffert and Jason Lage.
