Erwin leads LCC girls with silver medal in high jump, all three relay teams medal; Puppe wins 110 hurdles for boys

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track & field joined 11 other girls teams along with 13 other boys teams during a Friday invite to begin their season.

From Plainview, the Bears competed in the Ray Doerr Memorial Invite.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls finished sixth with 36 points while the LCC boys took 11th with 10 points.

In the girls division, Pierce held off Ponca, 117-81, followed by Norfolk Catholic in third (62), Wausa took fourth (61) and Stanton rounded out the top five teams with 44 points.

LCC was led by senior Tali Erwin who posted a runner-up finish in the high jump (4′ 10″).

LCC placed two in the top six of the 1600-meter run with junior Kate Tasler in third (6:08.62) and sophomore Faith Galvin in sixth (6:14). Galvin also finished fourth in the 3200-meter run (14:04.57) along with freshman Ava Christiansen in sixth (15:07.14).

Fifth place field event finishes came from freshman Taelynn Settje in the long jump (14′ 4 1/2″) and junior Laney Folkers in the triple jump (30′ 1/2″).

The LCC 4×800-meter relay team of Tasler, junior Addy Hoeppner, junior Tyler Recob and sophomore Carlie Kvols earned a bronze medal in a time of 11:26.46, the 4×400-meter relay team of Kvols, sophomore Hattie McCorkindale, Recob and Tasler took fourth (4:48.17) while the 4×100-meter relay team of McCorkindale, Settje, Kvols and Erwin placed fifth (56.63).

During the boys division, Pierce ran away with the team title with 116 points, Ponca followed in second (64), Norfolk Catholic took third (61), host Plainview placed fourth (46) and Stanton rounded out the top five teams with 39 points.

The LCC boys scoring came from freshman Drey Puppe who won the 110-meter hurdles (14.93) winning by nearly two seconds.
