The Wayne High School League of Legends eSports team competed at the Nebraska Schools eSports Association State Competition held at Concordia University in Seward on April 29
The team was composed of Ethan Bohnert, Jace Piper, Chase Adams, Aidan Bohnert and Dean Young. The team is coached by Alex Wieland.
The spring season started for the team during the week of Feb. 12 and lasted seven weeks. During that time, the team never lost. The first team they were to play had to forfeit their game which set the team off to a 1-0 lead. In the following weeks, the team played against Platteview, McCook, Skutt Catholic, Beatrice and Gross Catholic. A win in each match assured the team a spot at State as the #1 seeded team.
"Concordia University did a fantastic job hosting the State tournament over two days. The site saw 208 students from 34 different schools compete," Wieland said.
