Memorial services for Evelyn Tyler, 81, of Norfolk  will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Reverend Gordon Braun will officiate.

On June 21, 2022 Evelyn J. Liedorff, Robb, O’Mara, Sheckler, Tyler, loving mother of three children, died at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

Evelyn was born Aug. 31, 1940 in Oberlin, Ohio to Norman and Mary Liedorff. She had three siblings, David (Elaine) Liedorff of Wellington, Ohio, Loren “Butchie” Liedorff (deceased), and Marilyn Quance of Wayne. After graduating from high school, Evelyn married Walter Robb. They had a daughter, Beth (Dennis) Brandt of Randolph.

The next chapter of her life included marrying Doyle O’Mara, which led to her true passion of driving an 18-wheeler all over the United States, and into Mexico and Canada for 19 years. Evelyn was a pioneer in the industry and was one of the top registered female truck drivers. They had two children, Jim (Kristi) O’Mara of Tilden and Neisha (Steve) Moreland of Chapman, Kansas.

Evelyn’s next chapter was with Bob Sheckler in Wayne. This is when she learned to hunt for deer. They also had the Sportsman Cafe in Wayne for a short time. Then Evelyn went back to the road driving for Arrow Stage bus lines out of Norfolk for nine years. She enjoyed performing in community theatre and being part of a bowling league.

The next chapter led to Evelyn marrying Bud Tyler and they resided in Oakdale, Bartlett, and Newman Grove, Nebraska. She was a camp host at Calamus State Recreation Area at Burwell, Nebraska, where she enjoyed greeting and talking with people.

Her final chapter was spent at Heritage of Bel Air nursing home in Norfolk. She really loved people, flowers, being outdoors, the mountains, sunsets and sunrises, crocheting, and puzzles. Evelyn had a full and adventurous life with no regrets. She made a lot of friends along the way. In the end, Evelyn lost her battle to cancer. She was a fighter through it all.

She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.
