With day one in the books for girls state wrestlers, it was also semifinal Tuesday for girls basketball teams on Feb. 17 showcasing Wayne, Winside and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
Wayne, Wakefield and Tri County Northeast were all represented on day one. Day two action for the Wayne Herald area Class B wrestlers will return the mats at the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha starting at 9 a.m. for both Class A and B with first round consolation matches followed by second round consolation matches.
Semifinals and third round consolation matches are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday followed by medal rounds for third and fifth and the championships finals will be showcased starting at 6 p.m.

From Macy during the C1-4 Subdistrict semifinal, #3 Wayne suffered a 36-32 loss to #2 North Bend Central.
The Blue Devils will end their season at 14-11 having a three-game winning streak snapped.
The Wayne boys (11-12) will close out their regular season on Feb. 20 hosting Pierce at 7:30 p.m. Class B boys district pairings will be announced on Feb. 19.
From Wynot during the D2-5 Subdistrict semifinal, #3 Winside dropped a 43-38 decision to #2 Wausa.
The Wildcats (7-17) end their season.
The Winside boys (7-14) will end their regular season on Feb. 19 visiting Cedar Bluffs at 6 p.m. The third-seeded Winside boys will open postseason play (D2-4 Subdistrict in Wynot) against #2 Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.
Back in Oakland for a second straight day during the Class C2-6 Subdistrict, #3 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge lost 74-52 to #2 Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
The Bears end their season at 17-9 having a three-game winning streak snapped.
The LCC boys (8-14) are off until Feb. 20 closing out their regular season hosting Wynot on Feb. 20 starting at 6 p.m. The Bears were also tabbed as the #3 seed during the C2-6 Subdistrict hosted by Crofton. LCC will open postseason play on Feb. 23 against #6 Stanton at 7:30 p.m.
