Are you ready for wintry weather? To help area families get ready for winter the Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church will be hosting a coat give away on Saturday, Oct. 11 in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The event is open to all area individuals and families and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coats for all ages will be available; however, the selection will be limited to stock on hand. In addition to coats, there is a limited selection of hats, scarves and gloves and other winter accessories.
Each “shopper” can select one coat and accessories, parents may select for their children. First Presbyterian Church is located at 216 West Third Street and those taking part are asked to use the office door on the west side of the building (near the ramp on Lincoln Street).
The FPC Coat Closet will open for the season on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The closet’s normal hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. The Coat Closet is currently accepting donations of new or gently used coats for all genders, ages, and sizes. Please no leather or wool coats, washable coats are preferred especially for children and youth.
Drop off of donations can be made at the church Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon — please do not leave coats outside the building after hours.
