Update: First and second rounds of state wrestling complete; girls finish first round

The first round of the Class B boys state wrestling tournament is complete with two the three Wayne High wrestlers earning wins.

In the 120-pound division, Garret Schultz won his first match by a score of 5-0. In his second match, Schultz won by a score of 9-4 and is moving on to the semi-finals.

In the 144-pound division, Alex Frank won by pin in his first match and was pinned in his second round match. He will now move on the second round consolation match on Friday morning.

Grant Maas, in the 165-pound division, lost by a score of 3-0.

The other area wrestler, Byran Isom of Tri-County Northeast, lost by pin in the 157-pound division.

In girls first round action, Essynce Owens-Webb lost in sudden death by a score of 8-6 in the  100-pound class. She will wrestle in the consolation round on Friday.

At 130-pounds, Nyla Bolles won by pin and will wrestle again later today (Thursday).
