Four goal scorers fill up stat line during Wildcat road victory

Wayne State College women’s soccer took to the road for the start of NSIC action.

From Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center in Marshall, Minnesota, WSC visited MSU Moorhead to open the weekend.

Wayne State College took control of the second half to secure a 4-1 road victory. WSC is now 2-2-1 (1-0 NSIC) while Southwest Minnesota State fell to 0-5 (0-1 NSIC).

Paige Pemberton opened scoring in the 38th minute (37:16) for the lone first half goal for WSC.

WSC then scored off goals from Alaina Sorensen thanks to an assist from Maia Vacks in the 47th minute (46:16) and Riann Daas in the 70th minute (69:36) to lead 3-0.

Following a goal by the Mustangs in the 75th minute (74:54), Alyssa Ferin answered for Wayne State College in the 81st minute (80:31).

Final favored Wayne State College winning 4-1.

Sorensen and Daas both put their lone shot in the back of the net, while both Ferin and Pemberton took two shot attempts with one in the net as Vacks added a shot attempt and an assist.

Also, Morgan Rhodes placed all three shot attempts on goal;  Madilyn Schmeling put one shot on goal; Jordan Bedard added two shot attempts with one on goal as a single shot attempt came from Sydney Schnase with one.

Sidney Truman was in goal for 90 minutes. She recorded two saves and allowed one goal.

WSC held a 14-4 advantage on shot attempts, 9-3 on goal. Southwest Minnesota State recorded six corner kicks compared to Wayne State College with five.
