Four Wildcats named to All-NSIC teams

Three Wayne State men’s basketball players and Wildcat women’s standout Erin Norling were named to the Northern Sun Conference All-Conference basketball teams this week in voting by conference coaches.

Kendall Jacks leads the three WIldcats named to the All-NSIC men’s team, as he was a first-team selection. The 6-foot-4 senior guard/forward averaged 15.9 points and five rebounds this season, ranking in the top 10 in free throw percentage (7th) and field goal percentage (10th). He scored in double figures in 28 of 29 games this season and moved into third place on the school’s all-time scoring list.

Trevin Joseph was named to the men’s second tam after leading the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game, ranking 12th in the conference. The 6-foot-3 senior is 10th in the conference in 3-pointers made, averaging 2.3 per game. He scored a career-best 35 points at Sioux Falls on Jan. 9 and had 31 two weeks later at Northern State.

Vance Janssen was named to honorable mention honors this season. The 6-foot-2 senior averaged 12.1 points and three assists per game this season, ranking second in the conference in steals per game (1.4).

Norling was the lone Wayne State player on the NSIC women’s teams. The 5-foot-11 sophomore earned first-team selection after averaging 15.2 points and 5.5 rebounds a game this season. She ranked eighth in the NSIC in scoring, third in minutes played and was tied for eighth in steals. She scored in double figures in 27 of Wayne State’s 29 gams to this point, including a 21-point effort against Northwest Missouri State on Nov. 19.
