Wayne High wrestlers laid it all out on the line with an opportunity to punch their ticket to state.
From the Bison Activities Dome in Central City, the Wayne High boys wrestlers were among the 12 teams competing in the B-2 District.
The Blue Devils finished eighth with 61 points among their 12 wrestlers in the team race.
Bennington won the B-2 District with 253.5 points, host Central City followed in runner-up (167), Ralston took third (132), Cozad placed fourth (126.5) and Scottsbluff rounded out the top five teams with 121.5 points.
Wayne High state qualifiers, thanks to fourth place district medals, will be Ethan Gregory (120) suffered a loss by decision (10-6) in the third place match, Noah Magnuson (132) suffered a loss by fall (1:32) in the third place match, Grant Maas (150) suffered a loss by medical forfeit in the third place match and Maddox Ziska (285) suffered a loss by fall (4:07) in the third place match.
Other scoring came from Grady Maas (106) lost in the consolation semifinal (one win shy of a medal), Will Leseberg (126) lost in consolation semifinal (one win shy of a medal), Ty Zach (144) lost in consolation round three, Taven Ocampo (157) lost in consolation round three, Zander Liston (165) lost in the consolation semifinal (one win shy of a medal) and Keaton Gregory (215) lost in consolation round three while Alvaro Archundia (113) lost in consolation round two and Thomas Raymundo (138) lost in consolation round two were also in action.
The 2025 NSAA State Wrestling Individual championships for the boys will be Thursday, Feb. 20 – Saturday, Feb. 22 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
