Wayne State senior middle hitter Alyssa Frauendorfer was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Central Region honorable mention team announced Wednesday on the association’s website. It’s the fourth year she has received postseason honors from AVCA.
The Humphrey native leads the Wildcats in kills per set (3.01) and attack percentage (.351) while also averaging 0.77 blocks per set this season. She was named first-team All-NSIC for a fourth straight season, joining Rayna Nelsen Cain (1999-2002) as the only other Wildcat player to be a four-time All NSIC selection. Frauendorfer was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after posting a career-high 30 kills in a 3-2 win at Bemidji State. She currently ranks ninth on the all-time kills list at Wayne State with 1,399.
Last season, Frauendorfer was AVCA All-Central Region and third-team All-American. As a sophomore she was AVCA All-Central Region and honorable mention All-American, and was named AVCA Central Region Freshman of the Year in 2013 to go with AVCA All-Central Region First Team and AVCA honorable mention All-American.
