It was another busy Friday full of Wayne Herald sporting events for Wayne, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Winside, Wakefield and Tri County Northeast (Allen/Emerson-Hubbard).

Wayne High football picked up a 29-7 win at Omaha Brownell-Talbot.

The Blue Devils (1-2) will next host Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. from Bob Cunningham Field on the campus of Wayne State College for their homecoming game.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge football traveled to Emerson and won 48-8 against the host Tri County Northeast Wolfpack. 

LCC (1-2) will next host Lutheran High Northeast at 7 p.m. while Tri County Northeast (0-3) is back in action at Pender at 7 p.m. both on Friday, September 19.

Winside football visited Newman Grove/St. Edward in Newman Grove Friday afternoon and picked up a 58-16 victory. 

The Wildcats (2-1) will next host Lyons-Decatur Northeast for their homecoming game on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m.

Wakefield football traveled to Bloomfield and suffered a 64-0 loss.

The Trojans (0-3) are back in action on Friday, September 19 at 7 p.m. hosting Wisner-Pilger for their homecoming game.

Earlier in the day on Friday, Grace Ankeny from the Tri County Northeast girls golf program won the JV golf meet in South Sioux City. She shot a 44 at South Ridge Golf course.

Also, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge JV golfers were Mavis Jonas following in second (47) and Tanya Miranda in fourth with a 53. Stella Kock shot a 58.

Next up for the TCNE and LCC girls golf programs will be  the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge triangular at CedarView Country Club along with Pender on Tuesday, September 16. Teams will start at 4 p.m.

In Wayne State College sporting news, #25 WSC volleyball began the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver, Colorado going 2-0. WSC first won in four sets over Lewis University (IL) (26-28, 25-10, 25-15, 25-18) followed by a five set victory against #3 MSU Denver (25-22, 19-25, 11-25, 25-20, 18-16).

The Wildcats are back in action Saturday with two more matches in Colorado during the gold division.
