With all superstitions about Friday the 13th put to the side, it was a busy evening for the local sports teams starting with day one boys district wrestling action for Winside and Tri County Northeast as well as Winside (G/B) and Tri County Northeast boys only basketball.
Kyler Parker was also back in the pool to represent Wayne boys co-op swimming with Norfolk High during the HAC Championships.
From Ainsworth, the Winside girls basketball team concluded their regular season with a 55-51 loss while the Winside boys secured a 56-50 victory at Ainsworth.
The Winside girls (7-16, dropped fourth straight) will next open postseason play on Feb. 17 as the #3 seed during the D2-5 Subdistrict hosted by Wynot. The Wildcats will face #2 Wausa at 7:30 p.m.
The Winside boys (7-14, two-game winning streak) will close out their regular season at Cedar Bluffs on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
From Emerson, the Tri County Northeast boys suffered an 80-60 loss against Pender.
The Wolfpack boys (4-19, dropped third straight) will next join their girls team (5-16) on Feb. 14 in Macy visiting Omaha Nation starting at 1 p.m.
First day action for Winside and Tri County Northeast boys wrestling took over Oakland-Craig during the D-1 District Championships.
Day two will continue on Saturday at 10 a.m. along with Wayne High boys wrestling (B-2 Districts at 9:30 a.m.) at Fort Calhoun as well as Wakefield and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (C-1 Districts at 9 a.m.) traveling to Madison.
Parker was in action for Norfolk boys swimming (Wayne boys co-op) during the HAC Championships and will conclude competition in the pool for the Heartland Athletic Conference on Feb. 14.
