From Service to Sherman Reservoir: Heartland honors its veterans

Brad Wieland of Wayne was among the 32 veterans and first responders honored at the annual Servicemen of the Heartland Outdoors event June 13-14 at Sherman Reservoir near Loup City. The two-day gathering pairs honorees with volunteer guides for golf, fishing, a banquet and a ceremony recognizing their service.

The weekend drew participants from across Nebraska and beyond, spanning every era of service from Vietnam to today.

The nonprofit organization, founded in 2019, honored military veterans and first responders through guided fishing, golf, a banquet and a ceremony recognizing their service and sacrifice.
