The 10th annual Pink Flamingo Cancer Awareness event is set to take place on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Funds raised at this year's event will go to Providence Medical Center for the purchase of Stryker Overbed Tables.
Information from the company's website notes that these tables are "a true fit for every patient room. The sleek design of the award-winning Tru-Fit overbed table easily slides under beds, stretchers and mobile recliners. The low-profile, u-shaped base provides maximum versatility and there are infinite adjustments between low and high heights. The Dura-edge protects the table and contains spills."
In addition to ticket sales for the event, raffles will be held for a quilt made by Glenda Reinert and an afghan made by Sandra Lutt.
New this year will be a number of Silent Auction baskets that attendees can bid on. Theme-baskets are being put together by members of the church congregation, Pink Flamingo Nite committee members and others.
Among the "baskets" are Wayne State items, hand-crafted items, spa baskets and a charcuterie board.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. when attendees can visit more than 15 vendors in the upper level of the church.
Tickets are now on sale and are available at Wayne area banks, local floral shops, Providence Medical Center Wellness Center, Missa Sue’s in Laurel, Midwest Bank in Pilger and at Our Savior Lutheran Church through Oct. 10. A QR code is also available.
A light meal will be served, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. Gluten free and nut free options will be available.
Music will be provided in the church sanctuary from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Following an invocation and welcome, door prizes will be awarded.
This year's featured speaker will be Diana Cowan of Georgia Hair Solutions, TikTok personality. Attendees are encouraged to dress in pink or a 'team theme' for extra fun.
The event is sponsored by Our Savior Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA, Providence Medical Center Foundation and Pac 'N' Save. Supporting funds are provided by Thrivent.
