Funeral services for Gary L. Hansen, 65, of Wakefield, will be held Monday, Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery in Laurel.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Hansen family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Gary Louis Hansen was born April 3, 1957 in Wayne to Martin Soren and Norma Lea (Hinrichs) Hansen. He graduated from Wayne High School and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Gary taught Vocational Agriculture and FFA for 11 years in Verdigre.He served as a bean merchant for Cargill and sold breeding stock hogs for Cornhusker Farms in Shickley. Gary enjoyed golfing, hunting and playing cards. Most of all, Gary enjoyed watching anything his grandkids were participating in. He never missed a sporting event, whether it was in person or online.
Survivors include his children, Bryan “BJ” (Melissa) Hansen of Ponca, Nicole (Isaac) Voss of Vermillion, South Dakota and Scott (Sarah) Hansen of Wakefield; grandchildren, Brock Voss, Brooklyn Voss, Bryce Voss, Marissa Hansen, Samantha Ehlers, Emerson Ehlers, Pierce Ehlers, Conner Hansen and Aubree Hansen; siblings, Dallas (Sonja) Hansen of Carroll, Sandra (Clinton) Van Winkle of Beatrice, Janet Brennan of Omaha and June Van Bibber of Omaha; brother-in-law, Norman Sack of Omaha; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjean Sack and brothers-in-law, Jerry Van Bibber, Tom Brennan.
