Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 is now 3-0 in the National Division State Tournament being played in Minden and puts themselves in the drivers seat for Class B.
On August 4, the Post 43 Seniors won 5-2 against Lincoln Christian to improve to 25-2.
Leaders were Gavin Redden and Hayden Kelley both with two singles while doubles came from Jaxson Kneifl (one single) and Ethan Synovec. Synovec also led the team in RBI with two and also crossed the plate twice.
Gavin Anderson (100 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing two earned runs off six hits while striking out five batters and walking two. He finished with 72% being strikes.
Note one will be put in place stating: "Pairing for game 12 and 13 will not match previous opponents against each other unless absolutely necessary"
Wayne will next face Waverly at 7 p.m. on August 5 in Minden with a win or loss putting themselves in the hunt for the first-ever National Division title. Waverly earlier won 6-5 in nine innings over York on Monday and previously lost to Lincoln Christian (5-3) on Sunday.
Lincoln Christian would then open the 4 p.m. elimination game against Alliance after Alliance knocked out Mount Michael, 5-4 in 11 innings on Monday. Alliance previously lost 17-3 to Wayne on Sunday.
Monday scores in Auburn for the American Division: Seward eliminated Broken Bow (5-0) and Springfield/Platteview knocked out the host Auburn (3-2) while the winner's bracket favored Hickman over West Point (8-0). Note one will also take place in Auburn.
West Point will open Tuesday against Springfield/Platteview at 4 p.m. during an elimination game (West Point previously won 5-4 against Seward on Saturday) while Hickman (lone undefeated team in tourney) will next face Seward at 7 p.m.
Again, the National Division winner will host the American Division winner (being played in Auburn) on Saturday, August 9 for the Class B Senior Playoff game.
