Girls fourth, boys seventh at Fort Calhoun Invite

The Wayne cross country girls finished fourth and the boys came home in seventh place during Thursday’s Fort Calhoun Invitational.

In girls action, Gabi Meyer earned a ninth-place medal with a time of 23:46.30 to pace the Wayne ladies. Madison Jenkins was two spots shy of a medal, finishing 17th in 25:43.80.

Also running for Wayne were Faith Junck (27th), Sarah Greenwald (31st), and Karlee Janke (33rd).

In the boys competition, Brancon Wacker paced the Blue Devils with a time of 19:43.90, good for 18th place overall. Christopher Woerdemann was 25th in 20:37.70.

Also running were Liam Spieker (35th), Treyton Blecke (40th), Kaden Hopkins (41st), and Sean Aschoff (45th).

In JV action, Andi Belt finished ninth as the lone Wayne girl in the race. Lance Muhs was the first one home for the Wayne boys, placing 21st as the team finished sixth.
In junior high action, Fatima Lucas-Garcia was second, Kaylee Bruns was fourth and Kierah Haase placed ninth to lead the Wayne girls to a second-place finish. Jesus Zavala (fith), Sedjro Agouma (ninth) and Hunter Schultz (10th) paced the Wayne boys to a third-place finish.

Wayne runs in the UNK Invitational on Monday in Kearney and will be at the Aquinas Invitational on Thursday in David City.
