The Wayne High Invitational track meet saw something not yet seen thus far this spring — sunshine and warm temperatures.
That made for a number of record-setting efforts as the Wayne High girls took third and the boys finished fourth Tuesday afternoon at the Kern Track Complex.
Collin Clausen was among the record breakers on the day, setting a new mark in the high jump with a winning effort of 6 feet. He was the only winner on the day for the Wayne High boys.
On the girls side, Andrea Torres won the 3,200-meter run and anchored the winning 3,200-meter relay to lead the Blue Devil girls. Joining Torres on the winning relay was Molly Hoskins, Sarah Greenwald and Andi Belt.
Sidney Biggerstaff won the 100-meter hurdles, while Maysn Dorey took top honors in the pole vault.
Winside’s boys finished fifth and had a pair of winners, as Dylan Brogren nudged teammate JaShaun Vyborny at the tape to win the 1,600 and Alex Carlson won the 3,200.
