The Wayne High girls golf team set themselves up for next week’s district play with a solid two-day effort Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the Blue Devils won the Mid State Conference title for the first time in 20 years, beating O’Neill by 11 shots to shoot a 394 at Norfolk Country Club.
Joslyn Johnson was one of three Blue Devils to earn all-conference honors, winning the individual title with a 87.
Charli Sievers was third with a 95 and Lindsay Niemann placed eighth with a 102. Also scoring were Carli Canham with 110, Hallie Heithold with 126, Rylynn Owen 127 and Addison Sharpe 134.
On Friday, the Metteer Invitational was rescheduled and Wayne shot a 365 to beat Columbus Scotus by four shots.
Johnson tore up the Wayne Country Club with a personal-best round of 77 to claim individual honors. Canham finished ninth with a 93, Niemann was 11th with a 94 and Sievers shot 101 to cap the Blue Devil team scoring. Also scoring were Heithold at 113 and Owen and Sharpe both shot 123.
District play begins Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Wayne Country Club.
